Hello, I’m Danaë
/da•NAH•ee/
I’m currently a Product Designer for Design Systems at British Airways, where I build accessible components, refine processes, and generally try to make a massive product ecosystem behave. Before that, I led end-to-end design for BA’s Help Centre, working across customer care, FAQs, and AI chatbot flows.
Previously, I designed internal tools at Amazon within the People eXperience Foundation, making document portals far less painful for employees. Before working in tech, I worked as an assistant psychologist — arguably my first introduction to UX, just without the Figma files.
By day
When I’m not designing screens, I’m usually designing something else: a room, a meal, a trip, a mood board. My second love to experience design is interior design. I could spend hours scouring for the perfect Swedish lamp on Facebook marketplace. I also love a good hike or yoga class.
Astrologically, I’m an Aquarius sun, Gemini rising, and Virgo moon, which, depending on who you ask, makes me full of ideas, never short of words, and quick to reorganise things that aren’t mine to reorganise. Basically a creative tornado with a to-do list.
By night
My superpowers
I naturally step into the organiser–facilitator role. I run design system office hours for 30+ designers, keep our quarterly reviews on track, and handle the operational details that make cross-team work actually happen. I also organise team events, off-sites, and hackathons (which earned me the unofficial title of Chief Fun & Bonding Officer).
Community Builder
I think in systems by default thanks to my role. Whether it’s components, patterns, or the invisible logic that holds a product together, I see how the pieces fit and what’s needed to scale them. I create structured file systems, refine onboarding materials, and continuously improve how designers understand and use our design system. It’s methodical, intentional, and one of the reasons I can turn abstract problems into workable frameworks.
Systematic by nature
I use AI to enhance, not replace, my design practice — faster exploration, cleaner workflows, and more headspace for actual thinking. I use it across product and personal work to analyse behaviour, uncover opportunities, and accelerate the early stages of design. It’s me, but in sport mode.
Prompt princess
My background in psychology and neuroscience means I’m wired for research: I ask good questions, look for patterns, and get to the root of problems quickly. I’m comfortable working with data and translating complexity into clear direction. I also picked up some coding along the way, which helps me understand technical constraints and collaborate smoothly with engineers.
Big insight energy
